Episode 3.19 "Derek Un-Done"
[Casey is nervous when Max has dinner with her family]
Casey: So, um, Max has a big football game this weekend.
Derek: Oh really? I'm more of a hockey man myself. I mean, football's a game of brute force. Hockey players actually have to have technique and skill. You know, I think hockey players are like thoroughbread horses. Whereas, well, football players...I don't know, they're just cows.
Casey: Well, Derek, if hockey players are like horses then why does your team let a donkey like you play with them?
Derek: Maybe Max would like to defend himself.
Casey: Maybe Max is too polite!
[Edwin and Derek are downstairs for breakfast]
Edwin: Hey bro! That Sally is one cool lady! When you gonna ask her out?
[Derek dumps cereal on Edwin's head and leaves the kitchen just as Casey enters]
Edwin: So you're probably wondering why I have cereal on my head.
Casey: You probably deserved it.
Edwin: So did Max have a fun time last night?
[Casey dumps cereal on Edwin's head and leaves the kitchen]
Edwin: Was it something I said?
[Casey worries that Max hates her family]
Lizzie: Just explain to Max that you're different than the rest of us. Like a princess who ended up living in a swamp. We don't mind.
Casey: Lizzie, I threw my dessert at Derek. What kind of princess does that?
Lizzie: You were provoked!
Casey: And Derek's guest was a huge hit. (in disgust) Everyone loved Sally.
[Casey and Derek watch George's band perform]
Derek: Hey, they're pretty good for old folks. So what did Max think of the family?
Casey: What's not to love?
